NorthYork Design: Creating a Delicate and Uncluttered Office Space

A Unique Blend of Humanism and Purity

Inspired by the need for a different kind of office space, designer Alex Hsiung of NorthYork Design has created a stunning office design that combines humanism and purity. With its natural elements, simple color palette, and ingenious use of materials, this office space offers a delicate and uncluttered environment for productivity and creativity.

Unlike traditional office designs that often feel cold and impersonal, NorthYork Design aimed to create an office space that promotes a sense of warmth and comfort. The use of natural stucco elements, a simple and pure white color scheme, and a low-key fashion style contribute to the overall aesthetic of the space.

One of the standout features of this design is the bold use of different materials. Instead of relying on superfluous changes in materials, the space features hand-applied paint, natural wood, and mellow stone. These materials not only add visual interest but also create a unique custom-made space through ingenious design, matching, and stacking.

The office space spans 100 m² and includes a counter, meeting area, reception area, working space, and a tea room. The layout is carefully designed to maximize functionality and create a seamless flow between different areas.

The reception area, with its iron surface and veneer reception desk, sets the tone for the rest of the space. The floating light below the desk adds a touch of elegance and erases the heaviness of the volume. The hand-painted wall in grayscale allows the mind to gradually settle into restfulness.

The lounge area extends horizontally from the facade, starting with a grayscale floor and leading to an ink-colored display cabinet. This creates a balance of tension with the white storage cabinets hanging above and mirrors the TV wall. The sequential movement leads to the floor-to-ceiling windows, bringing in a bright and transparent vibe.

The open meeting area features a gray color palette that extends to the canopy, while the rustic stucco injects a gentle atmosphere. The undulating stone adds a perfect end view, and the glass showcase next to it holds various collections, creating a space of restrained elegance.

The transparent glass partition opens up the space and allows for a smooth traffic flow, redefining the fields and better connecting colleagues. This design choice enhances the comfort of the office and encourages interaction between team members.

The NorthYork Design office project was completed in May 2020 in New Taipei City, Taiwan. Extensive research was conducted to ensure that the design met the needs of a modern office space. The absence of solid walls and the incorporation of floor-to-ceiling windows in the reception area create a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere for visitors and employees alike.

This innovative office design by NorthYork Design has been recognized for its excellence and creativity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills and contribute to quality of life improvements.

With its unique blend of humanism and purity, the NorthYork Design office space sets a new standard for modern office design. By prioritizing comfort, functionality, and aesthetics, this design creates an environment that fosters productivity and creativity.
